Welcome

. . . and other "Tales from the Playground!"

As children, most of us would take for granted the chance to get out and about, exploring, climbing trees, visiting the park and hanging out with friends, but for many children and adults with a special need, it just isn't possible.  If you have a physical disability, the difficulties are more obvious, but, if you have a learning disability, sensory problems or autism, you may find it hard to relate to other people and to join in their games.
A Registered Charity (No. 278336), since 1982 the Thames Valley Adventure Playground has provided a chance for children & adults with all types of special need to enjoy the fun, freedom and friendship afforded by the opportunity to play and share experiences in a safe and stimulating environment, with users travelling from Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, London and beyond. Wheelch
air-accessible roundabouts and swings, elevated walkways allowing someone with profound and multiple difficulties to enjoy the excitement of 'climbing' trees, multi-sensory rooms to stimulate and relax, with specially-trained staff to provide help and support - these are just a few of the things on offer.

The Adventure Playground is seeking a Trustee with experience in marketing to support us in developing our marketing plan.

For those with, and without, a person with special needs in their life, the TVAP COMMUNITY is a space on Facebook for all those who have been to the Playground to share tips, events and experiences - the good, the bad and the helpful!  It aims to include, respect and support all who wish to be a part of it.

Last year over
4,000 visitors made over 14,800 visits to The Playground, with users travelling from all over the Thames Valley and beyond as there is nowhere quite like The Playground closer to home.
As a registered charity, it costs in excess of £350,000 a year to keep the Playground going.  With as little as 5% of the money we will need this year coming from
local authority funding, the support of the local community is absolutely crucial in helping to maintain a service which is of huge benefit to so many children and adults who have a special need.
